General Practice Information

We are the only GP practice in Wigton which is a market town about 11 miles West of Carlisle. We are a semi-rural practice with a list size of approximately 8800 patients which has increased in recent years with new housing developments in the area. We moved into our new purpose built premises on the corner of South End in October 2005. Some community services are based with us in the new building. There are an on-site pharmacy and a good sized car park.

We frequently have an extra doctor doing their 4 months Post Graduate GP post attached to the practice and we have medical students from time to time.

Wigton Hospital outpatient department offers services including physiotherapy, extended scope physiotherapy, rehab clinic, pulmonary rehabilitation, chance to change and diabetic eye screening etc which our GPs can refer to meaning patients do not have to travel far.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

If you have a high temperature, new continuous cough or a loss of, or change in your normal sense of taste or smell please do not attend the surgery.
