Welcome to Wigton Medical Practice
Wigton Medical Practice is found centrally in the market town of Wigton on the corner
of South End. We have eight doctors working alongside four practice nurses and
four healthcare assistants. Following an inspection by the Care Quality
Commission on 4th November 2014 the practice was one of the first ten practices
in England to be awarded an OUTSTANDING rating and the first in
We are open Monday - Friday 8.00am - 6.30pm. If you have a life threatening
medical emergency please dial 999 for an emergency ambulance. If you have an
urgent medical problem which cannot wait until the surgery re-opens please dial
111 to access the out of hours service. For more information about the NHS 111
Service please visit our practice info page.
Patients are able to order their repeat prescriptions, book, view, amend and
cancel appointments, and view or print summary information from their medical
record relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and immunisations
via Patient Access which is an online service. In order to access this service
you need to complete an application to online services form available from the
surgery reception. You will then be given a registration letter explaining how
to create an account, at this point you will be given a username and asked to
create a password which you will use each time to log in. Please note that you
will be asked to show proof of ID when handing in an application form.
All GP Practices are now required to provide all their patients with a named GP
who has overall responsibility for the care and support that the Practice
provides. This does not affect the care each patient receives and patients can
continue to see the GP of their choice whenever possible. If you wish to know
who your named GP is please ask at Reception.
Patient Online Access
If you register to use Patient Online Access, you use your computer, tablet or smartphone to:
- Make or cancel appointments with a GP without having to phone the surgery in office hours
- See when the GP you prefer to see is available
- See a list of your medication
- Order repeat prescriptions for medication you take regularly
- See your medical problems and key dates
- See your test results
Patient information forms and
registration forms are available at the surgery reception or by clicking on the links.
Please note that you will be asked to provide photo ID however well the reception team know you.
The Surgery will close at 1pm for staff training on Wednesday 22 March 2007
As at all other times when the surgery is closed, if you are in need of emergency medical attention, you should phone the NHS 111 Service on: 111
